About me
Shana Dion (MSc) is the Assistant Dean of First Nations, Metis, and Inuit Students at the University of Alberta. She is nehiyaw iskwew (Cree woman) from Kehewin Cree Nation in Alberta. As Assistant Dean, her responsibility is to ensure that First Nations, Metis, and Inuit students are deeply rooted in a holistic way so they can be active and thrive in every aspect of being a student. Dion also completed an MSc in the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation at the University of Alberta, whereby she engaged in an auotethnography to explore interconnection between nehiyaw (Cree) Ceremonies and physical activity (Dion, 2024).
